Writers presenta: #stopPinkwashing x ELFI

The team behind this project (Writers + Musa71) wants to keep growing. We want the STOP PINK WASHING movement to resonate with more female writers—and not just within our borders. So, as we celebrate the coolest summer of the rest of our lives, we’re bringing you some news: our Stop Pink Washing project is going on a trip. We wanted to show that this project knows no borders, which is why this time we’re passing the spray can to Elfy, who’s joining us from Dresden, Germany, to share her journey and her vision of graffiti.

I’ve always loved drawing, but for a long time I didn’t feel connected to graffiti culture, mainly because it didn’t exist in my small, rural hometown. It wasn’t until I was 20 and had moved to the city, where I met people from the graffiti scene, that I really started to explore it. I made my first attempts directly on the streets at a time when I wasn’t doing very well mentally, but I was instantly fascinated by it. At first, I mainly drew axolotl characters and block letters. After two years, I started experimenting more with letters, and now I prefer drawing large-scale styles.
In the early years, I faced many obstacles, but this only motivated me further. I was determined to improve, develop my own style and prove what I could do.

-Referentes femeninos:

I admire all women who uncompromisingly do their own thing and let their passion become a major part of their lives. I admire the professionalism and ambition of MADC, the authenticity and expressiveness of ROSY , and I love the playfulness of YUBIA. I’m equally fascinated by the willingness to take risks, the passion, and the energy of so many female writers who are forging their own paths and shaping the scene in their own unique ways.

estoy avanzando.

I’m both an introvert and an extrovert. I want to be seen, but at the same time, I don’t want to be scrutinized too closely. Graffiti gives me the chance to reveal a part of myself without putting me, as a person, in the spotlight. That’s exactly what I love about it. Even when I’m
not feeling well mentally, it allows me to express myself without being watched.

My motivation for doing graffiti has changed over the years. At first, I wanted to prove to others that I was capable and wouldn’t let myself be pushed aside. Today, it’s mainly about proving to myself that I can keep growing. I often feel like I’m treading water – but when I look
at pictures from a year ago, I realize how much has actually changed and that I’m always moving forward.
